Riding our talents and using them with skill is what we all strive to do.
The irony is we’re told many times to rein-in our talents. In other words, pull-back on something we do really well. Doesn’t that sound wrong?
In the journey of turning talents into strengths, you learn to gallop or run with your talents and intentionally contribute one or more of them in a specific role. You also learn to make quick stops to avoid danger.
This danger is overuse or ‘too much of a good thing’ of one or more of our talents when working with others.
Riding our talents skillfully is not black or white, it’s more of a painted pony. It’s a pattern of use and restraint that’s beautiful to see.
