During coffee with a client today, he expressed his discomfort with not knowing if one of his rising stars was engaged or ready to ‘jump ship’.

He would ask, ‘how are you feeling’ or ‘is everything ok’, not knowing how else to measure her level of engagement.

To avoid this feeling of uncertainty, here are 3 of 10 questions I often use, as an engagement conversation checklist:

  • Does your role help you achieve your WHY or purpose?
  • How is your role helping you achieve your goals?
  • What talents are you using right now? What talents would you like the opportunity to use?

You can measure engagement easily. Just ask them….
