I chatted recently with Alexander Havard, author of Created for Greatness: The Power of Magnanimity. He spent two years writing about two words – magnanimity and humility. These two words are the two virtues unique to leadership.
During our chat, he shared his mission of helping others to understand virtues. For example, he said something that struck me – greatness has a NAME and its name is magnanimity.
I interpret ‘giving greatness a name’ as establishing a common language. You have to make an ideal like greatness concrete. Once you have the language established you can give examples of what greatness is and isn’t, ways to practice greatness and and measure progress.
Attached is a summary I wrote to help you establish a common language, examples, and ways to practice and measure progress.
