Local professional associations are always looking for speakers who can add value to their members. Send a short description of your topics to the contact person responsible for programming and offer to fill a gap in their schedule or ask them to call if they have a last minute cancellation. They will appreciate your interest in being of help and many times will ask you to take a prime date on their schedule.

Lastly, I know some people will read this and think “this is great, but it doesn’t work in the real world… it is not practical or realistic.” It is practical and realistic if you have self confidence.
One reason speaking is so powerful is because it requires a lot of self confidence, which not everybody has, so few people do it. That is the irony. It is harder to sell yourself than it is to sell your ideas to your audience.
